The Balance of Being
We have always seen a world of black and white,
A world where women are mysterious, chaotic and dark,
A world where men are bold, structured, ordered, and light,
In a world of tradition change ignites with a threatening spark.
Our eyes open stunned with the sensation of colours unknown,
The swirls of dangerous crimson fantasy and streaks of sky blue bliss,
The multitude of diversity is frightening and our composures are over-blown,
We fight the colours into squares and assign roles to know what we miss.
We seek the perfect equilibrium and balance in two parts,
Men and women in harmony working together hand in hand,
But the truth lies in the balance of being and duality in our hearts,
We cannot be classified and blend in ways we don’t understand.
The work of a man can be the work of a woman in these times,
And the work of woman can be the work of a man these days,
Accepting the true colours of our personality means seeing no crime,
And embracing our colours means seeing the beauty in new ways.
We open our eyes, and uncover our deepest lies,
We bear our true colours with balance as our art,
We are free to simply be, and unafraid of others eyes,
We see the beauty in the diverse colours of our heart.
